A fresh wave of energy savings just rolled in for Hawaii.
As of July 9, 2025, Hawaii Energy, the state’s energy conservation program, has launched a brand-new rebate program designed to help both homes and businesses reduce energy costs through smarter, more efficient equipment upgrades. Available now through June 30, 2026, Hawaii Energy’s rebates cover a wide range of improvements, from solar water heaters, ENERGY STAR® appliances, and cooling systems for homes to compressed air systems, cool roofs, and custom energy-saving projects for businesses. All rebates are offered on a first-come, first-served basis and will remain available while funding lasts.
“Energy efficiency upgrades offer some of the fastest and most affordable relief for households facing high utility costs,” said Caroline Carl, executive director of Hawaii Energy. “With uncertainty surrounding federal energy programs and the potential rollback of tools like ENERGY STAR, these rebates come at a pivotal time to lock in long-term savings. By taking action now, residents and businesses can benefit themselves and also contribute to Hawaii’s progress toward a cleaner, more resilient energy future.”
This program is available on all islands served by Hawaiian Electric—including Oahu, Maui, Molokai, Lānai, and Hawaii Island (Big Island)—except for Kauai, which is served by a separate utility: Kauai Island Utility Cooperative. It replaces the previous 2023–2025 cycle, which ended on June 30, 2025, and offers even more opportunities to reduce upfront costs on HVAC systems, refrigeration equipment, water heaters, and more.

Why This Matters for Hawaii Businesses

Many commercial buildings in Hawaii still rely on outdated HVAC or refrigeration systems that use more energy than necessary, driving up utility costs and maintenance issues. The newly launched 2025–2026 Hawaii Energy rebate program makes it easier and more affordable for businesses to reduce operating costs, comply with updated energy codes and refrigerant regulations, integrate smart monitoring technologies, and improve the overall reliability and lifespan of their systems. Whether you manage a restaurant, hotel, retail space, warehouse, or office, this program offers a valuable opportunity to modernize your equipment without taking on the full financial burden upfront.
This new program is a clean slate—a chance to save more, upgrade smarter, and align with Hawaii’s energy future. Whether you're a homeowner with rising electric bills or a business looking to replace aging cooling systems, these incentives are made for you.
Missed the last rebate cycle? No problem. The 2025–2026 program is your fresh start.
